STAMFORD, UNITED KINGDOM, FRIDAY, 07/03/2025 - On Friday, March 7, 2025, Kem Qiyam Ramadhan—formerly known as Kem Ibadah—made its 16th annual appearance under the theme "Awakening Your Inner Drive" at Garden House in Stamford, Lincolnshire. Organized by the Brunei Religious Officers Student Association (BruROSA), the camp gathered 17 students: 9 participants and 8 committee members who traveled from various locations across the United Kingdom and Éire to take part in the event. Additionally, 7 Brunei Students Unit (BSU) officers and Chef Hajah Jusnani joined this meaningful camp.

The first evening commenced with Maghrib prayer and Iftar, followed by Isha and Taraweeh congregational prayers. To break the ice, participants engaged in a quick game called "2 Truths and 1 Lie", where they had to guess the false statement among three personal facts. This was followed by the "Blanket Game", in which participants recalled the names and societies of individuals on the opposing team, sparking laughter and creating a lively atmosphere. Another team-building activity—creating a group cheer based on Brunei’s Traditional Fruits—brought out dynamic collaboration and creativity out of everyone. Each group presented and performed their cheer, which was evaluated by BSU officers for their creativity, clarity and delivery. These activities provided an excellent start, helping participants bond and anticipate exciting activities ahead. The night concluded with Moreh, a light meal taken after Taraweeh and a preview of the next day's events.

The early hours of day two began with Qiyamullail, encompassing Tahajjud prayer, Dhikr and Suhoor, followed by Fajr prayer, ‘Tilawah Al-Quran’, and the recitation of Al-Ma’thurat. A key highlight of the camp was its emphasis on deepening participants' understanding of the beauty and virtues of these spiritual practices. With the arrival of the guest of honor, the opening ceremony commenced. Ahmad ‘Aqil bin Azman led the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by opening remarks from camp commandant Muhammad Zaki bin Haji Ag. Amin, who introduced the camp’s theme. The guest of honor, Laksamana Pertama (B) Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Norazmi bin Pengiran Haji Muhammad, High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam to the United Kingdom, delivered a speech alongside Cikgu Mohammad Danny bin Aimi, Director of Studies at BSU. Souvenirs were presented, and a group photo was taken to mark the occasion.

The day progressed with a series of lively activities, including a Bruneian slang guessing game and an outdoor exploration of Stamford. In small groups, participants created short videos capturing their experiences as they bonded with new friends. The evening resumed with congregational prayers, Al-Ma’thurat, Iftar, Taraweeh, and Witr prayers. The night session featured a brief religious talk by Ustaz Royzime, emphasizing the significance of acquiring Islamic knowledge, maintaining a strong connection with parents and incorporating daily Dhikr and Selawat into one's routine. The session concluded with a heartfelt reflection led by Zaki and Syahirah, reminding participants to cherish and uphold their relationships with their parents.

The final day began with another Qiyamullail session. The camp concluded with a heartfelt closing ceremony, where camp commandants Muhammad Zaki bin Haji Ag. Amin from the University of Sunderland in London and Nur Syahirah binti Haji Mohamad Burhani from the University of Reading delivered closing remarks. Awards were presented to recognize outstanding participants and teams, with Team ‘Manggis’ honored as Best Team for their creativity and admirable teamwork— especially showcased in their group cheer. Muhammad Khairul Ikhwan bin Haji Matazmi from the University of Birmingham was recognized as the Best Male Participant for his unwavering enthusiasm and proactive spirit, while Dk Durratul Mumtazah binti Pg Suniman from the University of Reading was acknowledged as the Best Female Participant for her exceptional dedication and generosity. Both individuals demonstrated outstanding qualities and served as positive influences on other fellow attendees.

The camp concluded with a prize and certificate presentation ceremony, a gift exchange, a group photo session, and a video showcase capturing highlights from Kem Qiyam Ramadhan. A heartfelt thank you goes to @upp.uk for their sponsorship, and to everyone who contributed to the success of this meaningful and memorable event.
