BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, FRIDAY, 27/08/2021- Brunei Religious Officers Student Association (BruROSA) had collaborated with Brunei Student Union (BSUnion) in conducting an Outreach Tour at Hassanal Bolkiah Arab Boys Secondary School (SMALHB) through zoom due to Brunei’s second wave of Covid 19.

The programme was opened to SMALHB students of male and female who are in sixth form known as Umum 1 and Umum 2. A total of 56 students and 12 volunteers consisting of students from the United Kingdom and Eire, University of Brunei Darussalam (UBD), University of Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA), KUPUSB, Brunei Cairo Society (BruCairo), Brunei Student Council Malaysia (BCSM) and an active youth had participated in the programme. The aim of this programme was for the students to be able to voice their concerns in a safe space, sharing their struggles and stresses. It also helps the students to build their pathway after their sixth form life.

Students’ arrival was at 1.45 p.m. while the event starts at 2 p.m. The programme began with a welcome speech from the President of BRUROSA, Fikri Ali, where he had shown his appreciations to the students for attending BRUROSA’s first virtual Outreach Tour event. 20 minutes into the programme, the students were divided into groups through breakout rooms where the committee members had prepared activities for their ice-breaking sessions. These activities were miscellaneous questions, pitch fire, virtual charades and trivia quizzes which were based on general knowledge. Then the students were returned to the main room where the moderator for that evening, Haziq Daraina from BSU, had introduced 3 speakers who gave a talk to the students. The first speaker was ‘Aqilah Mat Dani, a student from the United Kingdom and Eire who shared her experience on how students can succeed. Among them is to get blessings from those around us and Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala. The second speaker, Rabi'atul Adawiyah, a student from UNISSA where she corrected our intention to study was supposed to be for our own sake and not for others. The third speaker was Jannah Armanshah, a youth who is active in non- governmental organisations (NGOs) where she shared her experience as a volunteer who can open the minds of all.

After the talk, 20 to 30 minutes were set for a sharing session where students were returned to their respective groups (breakout room). The facilitator who was the leader of each group plays the role of a listener to the students and shared their journey while in sixth form. At the end of the event, the closing prayer was recited by the President of BRUROSA, Fikri Ali. The programme ended at 4 p.m. With that, BruROSA and BSU would like to thank the school for giving us the opportunity to hold this programme. We hope that it will bring many benefits to the students as they begin their journey after sixth form life.
