UNITED KINGDOM, WEDNESDAY, 03/04/2024 - BruROSA’s annual Majlis Khatam Al-Qur’an was celebrated in conjunction with Nuzul Al-Qur’an, last Saturday on the 30th of March 2024 in three different regions: Cardiff, Ireland and London. This event was held in collaboration with The Brunei Students’ Society Cardiff (BruSCA), Bruneian Students in the Republic of Ireland (BruÉire) and Brunei Hall Students’ Committee (BHSC) which was also made available on virtual platform, welcoming participation from other Bruneian students’ societies including BruLeeds, Brusheff, BruBrove, BruEx, BruDundee, EdinBru, as well as individual attendees.

The event commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and an opening prayer led by the President of BruSCA, Wan Muhammad Hafiz bin Wan Habib. The event continued with the recitation of Surah-Surah Lazim led by BruSCA and further proceeded with Takhtim recitation led by the Religious Officer of BruÉire, Abdul Haziq Idzwan bin Rudiman.

Subsequently, the ceremony continued with the recitation of Doa Khatam and Doa Penutup Majlis, delivered by the Head Financial Secretary, Safiuddin Safwan bin Said. Afterwards, BHSC led the attendees in the recitation of Dhikr Marhaban, with the other committee simultaneously distributing bunga telur to each attendee. The event was brought to an end with a heartfelt group photo session, concluded with the recitation of tasbih kifarah and Surah Al-’Asr by all of the attendees.
BruROSA would like to extend our appreciation to the Guest of Honour His Excellency First Admiral (R) Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Norazmi bin Pengiran Haji Muhammad, the High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam in the United Kingdom for attending this event.

We would also like to express our sincerest gratitude to the hosting societies: BruSCA, BruÉire and BHSC for contributing efforts and time in collaborating with us as well as Ustaz Muhammad Fahmi bin Abas for guiding us throughout this event.

We trust that this event has benefited everyone, especially during this holy month of Ramadhan. We extend our heartfelt gratitude for honouring this event with your presence and contributing to the success of this gathering.

“The month of Ramaḍān [is that] in which was revealed the Qur’ān, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion.” [Surah Al-Baqarah:185]

Ibn Mas'ud (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "Whoever recites a letter from the Book of Allah, he will be credited with a good deed, and a good deed gets a ten-fold reward. I do not say that Alif-Lam-Mim is one letter, but Alif is a letter, Lam is a letter and Mim is a letter." [At- Tirmidhi]
